The PAS garden has been awarded the Garden of Distinction Award in the 2016 Philadelphia Horticulture Society Gardening Contest!

Soil Sensor Helps Monitor Garden

The PAS garden has a new soil sensor, installed by the Philadelphia Water Department. Check out the website for real-time soil moisture readings. Soon we will be able to receive emails when the garden needs water.

Summer Gardeners Needed

The PAS garden needs your help! Sign up to care for the garden for a week or more this summer. Interested parents are invited to attend a training with Mrs. Kearney, the middle school science teacher, after school on Monday, June 20 and Tuesday, June 21 at 3:15 p.m. in the garden. Sign up here.  If you're unable to attend either session, please email Mrs. Kearney  to arrange a session around your schedule.

Help Our Orchard Thrive

In April, members of the PAS planted an orchard and installed an outdoor classroom. Thanks to the parents, students, staff and teachers who made this happen, and special thanks to middle school science teacher Stephanie Kearney for her leadership and vision. Check out the attached for more information on the orchard and some tips to help it thrive.

Welcome to the PAS Garden Page

Penn Alexander School's garden is an urban green space where students and their families learn sustainable urban gardening techniques. This garden, with the aid of the community, provides nourishing fruits and vegetables and offers a place of natural beauty for all to enjoy.
