School Advisory Council Meeting

 

Monday, April 15 at 3:45 P.M.

 

Location: PAS Library; use Locust St. entrance after 3:45 P.M.

 

School Advisory Council (SAC) meets once a month and is a forum for discussion and collaboration with the PAS administration on school-based decision making with a focus on student achievement, school improvement, effective teaching, and parent and community engagement, communication, and support. Each month SAC focuses in on an open forum topic on various areas of strategic importance, such as:
  • Academics / Curriculum
    • sports
    • academic rigor
    • AI
    • homework (FYI, the Homework Policy is on page 9 of the Student Handbook, located HERE.)
    • teacher communication platforms (December 2023)
    • teacher appreciation
  • Facilities
    • traffic safety (November 2023)
    • school lunch nutrition
    • field rehab project (January 2024; contact Dr. Ann Kreidle to be included in this ongoing project)
    • community garden
  • Community
    • building inclusive PAS community (January and February 2023)
    • clubs and extracurricular activities, including language arts and club sports
    • building partnership with Lea School
    • supporting neurodiversity (May 2023)
    • language accessibility needs (May 2023)
    • before and after school care
    • supporting an anti-bullying climate (February 2024)
  • Family Engagement
    • increasing family survey participation (March and May 2023)
    • helping parents know how to advocate for themselves and for more school funding
    • building awareness of how families can engage, connect, communicate, and learn more
    • supporting family connections through play dates, new family meetings, neighbor meet & greets, etc. (March 2024)
