New Web Site for PAS Middle School Families

Middle School Parents are invited to check out the new middle school web site. This site contains homework calendars for middle school subjects, and should work with any computer or web browser.  It is set up to work on mobile devices as well, but the calendar will display in 640 x 480 size on all devices.  Click on the drop-down menu items or direct links from subject pages to find each teacher's calendar.

PAS SAC Coffee Chat: Help Your Child Manage Homework

Join the Penn Alexander School Advisory Council for the first in a series of coffee chats focused on topics of interest to PAS parents. The intent of the coffee chat series is to create a forum for connecting parents and facilitating information sharing among parents on school and parenting related topics. This first conversation will focus on the PAS homework policy and tips and strategies parents can use to support their child with their homework. The meeting will take place in the cafeteria. Coffee and donuts will be provided.

Parents of 7th and 8th graders are invited to meet with Mrs. Knight, the school counselor. This is a great opportunity to learn more about the high school application process.  The meetings are as follows:

8th Grade - Monday, September 22, 5:30 - 6:30 pm

7th Grade - Tuesday, September 23, 5:30 - 6:30 pm

HSA Meeting: How Can I Volunteer!

Learn how you can become involved in the HSA. Meet the new HSA Board and committee chairs. Hear about the different ways one can contribute to the PAS community. HSA Meetings are held in the cafeteria. Parents enter through the blacktop. Childcare is available for a suggested donation of $5/family. The meeting includes a potluck dinner so please bring a dish to share.

Box Tops for Education

Help raise money for PAS by saving Box Tops for Education! Look for the Box Tops rectangle on items you regularly purchase for your home. Clip it and send it to school.

Each Box Top can be redeemed by PAS for 10 cents. The class that submits the most Box Tops will win a party. Box Tops can be found on over 200 products such as cereals, Ziploc bags, Pillsbury and Betty Crocker desserts, Yoplait, Juicy Juice, Kleenex, Cottenelle, and Hefty products. Please check expiration dates on Box Tops.

HSA Meeting: Internet Safety

Back by popular demand: Technology teacher Mr. Endriss provides an overview of the latest in youth internet use and what we can do to help our kids stay safe online. 

All HSA meetings include child care for a suggested donation of $5/family and a potluck dinner. Please bring a dish to share.

Fun Times Ahead at the Fall Festival

Hold the date: The PAS Fall Festival is will be held on Thursday, October 23 from 4:30 - 6:30 pm at PAS. Watch as our school is transformed into a fair site with games and arts and crafts for kids of all ages.  

Free Breakfast and Lunch Now Available for All Students

The School District of Philadelphia now offers FREE breakfast and lunch to all students.  There is no need to preregister. Follow @pennalexander on Twitter to learn what's for lunch tomorrow! Monthly menus are also available on the School District of Philadelphia's web site.

Each student received two summer reading books and a list of grade-specific supplies for next year in their report card packet on the last day of school. In case that information didn't make it home or has disappeared in the transition to summer, downloadable versions of the list of summer reading books and the supply lists are available here.
