The annual fourth grade trip to Hershey County, PA will be held on Monday, May 9. Students will visit Indian Echo Caverns, the Milton Hershey School, the Hershey Museum, Hershey's Chocolate World and eat dinner at Golden Corral. The trip costs $70/person. Due to the higher cost, we are offering an online payment option. Payment is due by April 29. All students must submit signed permission slips in order to go on the trip. Please direct any additional questions to the fourth grade teachers.
The PAS FIRST Lego League Robotics team under the direction of middle school science teacher Stephanie Kearney won 1st place for their presentation in the state championship held on February 6 at the University of Pennsylvania. They scored the highest average in project, robot design and core values. As a result they have been invited to the FIRST Lego League World Championship in St. Louis at the end of April. Congratulations to this group of talented 7th and 8th graders!
The 6th annual PAS 5K Run for Arts and Science will take place on Sunday, June 5, 2016. Register online before March 1 for a discounted price of $25/adult and $15/student ($5 off of regular registration fees of $30/$20).
Celebrate one of this year's graduates by purchasing an ad in the 2016 yearbook. Messages are $10/each and must be 25 words or less. All ads are due to the office by Friday, March 11. Please use the attached form for ads. Forms and payment can be submitted to the office.
This year's talent show will be held on Thursday, March 10. Tryouts will be held after school on Thursday, February 11 and Thursday, February 18. All ages/grades are welcome to try out. More information to come!
Penn Alexander was honored by the School District of Philadelphia for achieving the model performance tier, the highest level possible, for the 2014-15 School Progress Report. PAS earned model performance in all three categories: achievement, progress and climate. As the highest performing K-8 school, PAS has been designated a City Leader. Congratulations to Principal Sydnor, Ms. Waper and our dedicated teachers and staff for this honor!
Students Run Philly Style Team Penn Alexander is back on track. PAS needs parent volunteers to become running leaders for the running club starting in March. Parents responsibilities may include:
Registration for students entering kindergarten in September 2016 will take place from January 19 to February 29, 2016. Due to the high number of applicants in past years, registration to Penn Alexander School is by lottery. This year's lottery will be conducted by the School District of Philadelphia during the week of March 7, 2016. Families will be notified of the outcome during the week of March 14, 2016.
